Lacerations & Burn Treatment Clinic – East County Urgent Care

At East County Urgent Care, we know how scary it can be when you or a family member sustains an injury. That is why we offer comprehensive care for lacerations and burns at our convenient walk-in clinic. We understand how important it is for you to be able to help your loved ones receive fast and effective treatment when they need it most. We are open 7 days a week and can provide relief for most non-life-threatening injuries without the stress, hassle, and exorbitant cost of an emergency room visit.

Cuts and lacerations are a common injury. Most of us have cut ourselves at one point or another, whether with careless kitchen knife skills or while working in the yard. Not all lacerations will require a visit with a doctor, however it is always best to seek professional treatment if you are unsure. If your laceration is large or deep, if there is an object lodged in the wound, if the laceration is the result of an animal bite, or if the cut was caused by a metal object or you are not up to date on your tetanus vaccination, you should seek medical attention. If your laceration is bleeding profusely and will not stop, it may be best for you to visit your local hospital’s emergency room. At East County Urgent Care, we can provide sterilization and suturing of non-life-threatening lacerations and cuts.

Burns are complicated injuries that may require emergency care if they are severe. The doctors at East County Urgent Care can provide diagnosis and treatment of most non-life-threatening burns. Burns can easily become infected if they are not treated promptly and effectively. Burns are categorized based on their severity and can present as first, second, third, or fourth degree burns. First degree burns are the least serious, including mild to moderate sunburns, and can often be treated at home, depending on their location, size, and impact on the patient. Second degree burns damage the first and second layers of the skin and will often cause blistering. Any second degree burn more than a few inches in area should be seen by a doctor immediately. Third and fourth degree burns are serious burns that can include injury to muscles, tendons, bones, and can even cause damage to nerves. These burns should be treated by a professional immediately, as they can be life-threatening.
