While an annual physical exam is good practice for children and adults of all ages, they are especially important for students who plan to participate in school sports and activities in order to ensure your child is healthy enough to participate in team sports. Bringing your child to see a physician every year can aid in early diagnosis and intervention to prevent problems before they become more serious. East County Urgent Care’s dedicated staff will evaluate your child from head to toe and provide you with the information you need to help keep them as healthy as possible.
A physical exam is an extremely simple, non-invasive procedure. Your doctor will record your child’s height, weight, and blood pressure, as well as taking a full medical history. We will also conduct an assessment of your child’s vision and evaluate their lungs, ears, nose, abdomen, heart, and throat. Your physician will also evaluate your child’s posture and joint articulation. By bringing your child in for a regular physical exam, you can help your child’s doctor pinpoint issues that may be indicative of conditions such as asthma and allergies or even scoliosis and more serious issues.
While the majority of sports physicals will not require further assessment, depending on the outcome of the exam, your doctor may suggest a follow-up visit either at our East County Urgent Care clinic or with a specialist. To make sure your child stays healthy and safe, it is important to follow-up on any issues that are discovered during their exam. East County Urgent Care can provide you with proof of your child’s exam and its results if your child’s school requires documentation of their visit.
We are also happy to offer a full range of vaccination and immunization services to help your child stay healthy for the entire school year. If your child requires specific vaccinations to attend school, please call our clinic to confirm we have those you require before coming in.
When you come to East County Urgent Care for your child’s sports physical, you can be sure they will receive the individualized care and attention they deserve. We know there is nothing more important to you than your child’s health, and our doctors are as dedicated to their well-being and safety as you are.
